Basketbrawl (Atari 7800 review)

Developer: Atari Corporation
Publisher: Atari Corporation
Released: 1990

Basketbrawl is a sports game that was later released on the Atari Lynx in 1992.

+ Single Player is an immersive endurance mode where your stats carry forward into each match until your health depletes.

+ 2-Player mode is devilishly fun as you try to pummel each other while keeping an eye on the score and incoming knifes!

+ Like Nintendo World Cup (1990, NES), punching foes until they lose consciousness is not only hilarious, but a smart tactic.

+ Power-ups are a great idea, as they add an element of unpredictability that results in randomised chaos.

- Shortsightedly, your teammate is auto-selected if you choose a 2 vs 2 match which reduces strategic decision-making.

- CPU partners are complete ball hogs and if they manage to gain possession they'll avoid passing entirely.

- Screen doesn't always scroll quickly enough and it's easy to lose track of your player due to decreased visibility.
